Our annual mulch application will be done next week on Wednesday December 7. Please make sure you have all decorative items in mulch areas removed to avoid potential damage. Mulch will not be left on the street overnight as it was last year.
We suffered a burglary in the community last week. The police strongly advised that that whenever you are away make sure a neighbor is picking up any packages or delivery notices that are left at your door.
We thank Larry Campbell and Martha Hays for their service on the Board and the Architectural Committee. At the recent HOA meeting Marshall Carter and Chip Lee were elected to the Board and Anne Gravitte was re-elected. Noral Stewart and Betsy Solakaglu have a year left on their terms. The new Board will meet January 9 and elect officers.Larry and Martha are continuing on the Architectural Committee until January 9. Other members are Marshall Carter and new members Lee Georgi and Mike Ahdieh. PPM has implemented a new web-based system for review of architectural requests that we hope will speed up the process once the kinks are worked out.
At the HOA meeting the budget was approved with a $5 increase in dues. This is due largely to the backlog of grounds issues beyond the normal grounds contract that must be addressed and the fact that we are still paying back loans taken from reserve to address such grounds issues. It is the hope and belief of the Board that the dues can now stabilize at this level.
The Board and PPM are working closely with the grounds contractor to establish a method to assure that special plants planted by homeowners are not trimmed by the grounds crew. Our grounds contractor sincerely apologizes for the unexpected trimming that occurred on the day of the meeting due to a communication breakdown. We are also investigating the possibility of more frequent trimming of at least some plants that grow quickly.
